Woke Up Like This review

Posted : 3 years, 1 month ago on 16 March 2021 02:11 (A review of Woke Up Like This)

Don't even bother watching this, it's a waste of time. But then again, isn't anything by Vhong Navarro? I was starting to be a Lovi Poe fan, who's actually quite good at times, but I just can't comprehend why she would accept this role that would put her acting in the ranks of Vhong. Eek!

The Annulment review

Posted : 3 years, 1 month ago on 16 March 2021 02:07 (A review of The Annulment)

Individually, Lovi Poe and Joem Bascon are quite good actors. This movie, however, just doesn't seem to work. That Myrtle is blech, they should have cast someone else. She just wasn't at part with Lovi's wife character and the acting was quite bad too.

The Hopeful Romantic review

Posted : 3 years, 1 month ago on 25 February 2021 02:56 (A review of The Hopeful Romantic)

Awful storyline. What a waste of Pepe Herrera's talent. I'm actually a bit disappointed that he took on this role.

100 Poems for Stella review

Posted : 3 years, 9 months ago on 19 July 2020 04:04 (A review of 100 Poems for Stella)

I hated this movie.

First of all, you would expect a movie with the title "100 Tula Para Kay Stella" to feature poems along the lines of the great poets. But no, the featured poems were more akin to something a fourth grader would write. So, no.

But more than that, I hate what the writer did to Stella. Stella was a fun, vibrant, smart, talented, ambitious, young woman, but how did she end up? What a waste. I refuse to believe that someone with that much ambition and passion for her music would simply settle with the belief that that is all she's worth. And unlike Fidel, she didn't even get the chance to redeem herself. Obviously, the story was written by a man. I hate it.ย

I'm giving the movie 7 stars anyway, because JC Santos and Bela Padilla are excellent actors and they both played their parts exceptionally well. Too bad all their talents were wasted on a flimsy storyline.

Never Not Love You review

Posted : 3 years, 11 months ago on 16 May 2020 06:30 (A review of Never Not Love You)

This is one of the best Filipino romance movies I've seen in a long time. Not surprisingly, it's from Antoinette Jadaone. This was also the first Nadine Lustre movie I've seen and I instantly became a fan.

The Story of Us That Never Was review

Posted : 3 years, 11 months ago on 16 May 2020 06:26 (A review of The Story of Us That Never Was)

I'm rating this 8 because of the soundtrack. The acting was good, and the cinematography. Thereโ€™s something lacking in the story though.

Don't Give Up on Us review

Posted : 6 years, 11 months ago on 21 May 2017 05:20 (A review of Don't Give Up on Us)

I watched this movie some time ago and, unfortunately, the only thing I can remember about it is Piolo Pascual's ridiculous haircut.

The Breakup Playlist review

Posted : 8 years, 4 months ago on 15 December 2015 07:54 (A review of The Breakup Playlist)

I couldn't help comparing this to the indie film Rakenrol (Quark Henares, Glaiza de Castro, Jason Abalos) since both movies dealt with almost the same subject matter. Though Rakenrol, IMO, is infinitely better, The Breakup Playlist could hold its own.

Born to Love You review

Posted : 8 years, 4 months ago on 6 December 2015 11:15 (A review of Born to Love You)

This was on cable today and having nothing better to do, and because it starred Coco Martin, I sat down to watch it. I had no high expectations from this movie but even my low expectations were not met. For one, the lead stars had no chemistry whatsoever and that should be a minimum requirement for romantic comedies. Plus, I really don't understand why Coco had to have that ridiculous haircut. I would have given this a lower rating if not for the minor roles of Albert Martinez and Eula Valdez.

Everyday I Love You review

Posted : 8 years, 4 months ago on 2 December 2015 08:37 (A review of Everyday I Love You)

A surprisingly good teenybopper movie, which adults will also find fun and endearing. Would recommend to watch on those lazy afternoons when you just want to sit back and relax. Offers some good views of Bacolod too, as a bonus.
